The Ipswich Show Society was formerly called the Ipswich Agricultural and Horticultural Society on the 14 March 1866. Later, it become known as the Queensland Pastoral and Agricultural Society on 28 August 1872. On the 13 May 1873, the first show was held at a site in Churchill, facing the Bremer River. The Society subsequently moved to its present site on Warwick Road in 1877.
The Ipswich Show Society is now the epicentre for activities, events and promotions across the year. This includes the Ipswich Show which attracts over 35 000 visitors to the Showgrounds in May each year. We also host a number of functions and events within our multiple venues including Model Expos, Antique Fairs, Business Awards, Stamp Fairs, Papercraft Shows, Flyball Racing, Preloved Markets and special interest expos and exhibitions. We also support local community groups for their club meetings, functions and events.
We manage and present other events throughout the year including the themed Twilight Markets and the ever popular Blazin’ Bull Rides.
Our Caravan Park offers 25 powered caravan sites for travelling guests all year round, except for key event periods.
As a not-for-profit and charity, our aim is to promote and encourage the development of pastoral, agricultural, horticultural and industrial interests in the Ipswich Region. At time of disaster or crisis, our facility operates as a well-needed evacuation centre for displaced families and communities within our Region.
